[ LIFE ON THE WATER ]

A Boat, Not a Building

We converted the boat ourselves and moored her on the Bridgewater Canal, right on the towpath by Walton Park. It's a proper narrowboat galley — small, a bit wobbly when it's windy, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

[ SLOW CRAFT ]

Baked Before We Open

Rob and Clare are in the galley early most mornings — brownies, scones, whatever's going that day — so it's ready before the first dog walkers turn up at the hatch.

[ TOWPATH FRIENDLY ]

Dogs Always Welcome

Free treats and a water bowl are out by the hatch every day. Stop on your walk or ride — no need to buy anything, though we won't say no to the company.

[ CANAL LIFE ]

Towpath seating, calm waters, and warm mugs.

Grab your drink from the hatch and take one of the deck chairs on the bank. It's a good spot to sit for ten minutes, or an hour, watching the boats go by.

SEATING: Canal-side benches & deck chairs
WEATHER POLICY: Open rain or shine under our hatch awning
FOUR-LEGGED FRIENDS: Free pup cups & biscuits at the hatch
Cozy canal cafe boat seating
[ WHILE YOU'RE HERE ]

Out on the Water

This stretch of the Bridgewater Canal isn't just for walking and cake. There's a lot going on right around Walton Park — here's a couple of the neighbours worth knowing about.

[ PADDLE HIRE ]

Grip Adventure

A short walk along the towpath, Grip Adventure hires out kayaks, canoes and paddleboards on the canal, run by Glenn Rees. No experience needed — they'll run through paddle technique and kit you out before you set off. A nice way to see the canal from the water for an hour, then come find us for a coffee afterwards.

[ ROWING CLUB — EST. 1957 ]

Trafford Rowing Club

Based right at Walton Park, Trafford Rowing Club has been out on this water since 1957 and takes members from age 11 up, whatever your experience. Keep an eye out for their crews training on the canal, and if you're around in February, their "Head of the Bridgewater" race brings a few hundred rowers down the towpath past the boat — worth timing your visit around.
